Devon's reply started badly as Rawson bowled opener Richard Foan with a ball that zipped away from him off the pitch. Dawson failed to trouble the scorers as he hit Rawson straight to Newman at wide mid-off. Hancock got a ball right on his toes from Rawson that was almost unplayable and sent his stumps dancing. David Lye and surviving opener Arul Suppiah seemed to be repairing the damage until the Sandford blaster was caught in the gully having a swish at Alex Carroll. When Suppiah went for the square drive through point and was caught off the edge in the slips, Devon were in deep trouble at 51 for five. Will Hanson's run-out after being sent back by Barton's Aaron Williams left the score a worrying 65 for six. Seventh-wicket pair Williams and Woodman (pictured) seemed to be repairing the damage once Newman was bowled out. But with 41 more added it ended. Williams, who had scored 13 in ones and twos, went for the big hit over square-leg and was well caught by the advancing Newman 10 yards in from the rope. Woodman, like Parsons on loan from Somerset was still there, but couldn't hang on to his partners once Rawson returned for his final two overs and knocked over Trevor Anning and Bishop. Sixteen to win off the last over needed a hit-and-hope approach by Woodman (43), who clouted the first ball down straight to Rawson at mid-wicket.
