ST Just stormed into the finals of the Cockspur National Twenty20 Cup yesterday with wins over North Devon the Sudbrook in the regional qualifier at Bovey Tracey CC.
Devon champs North Devon were swept aside by 79 runs in the morning semi-final – Gary Thomas and Mark George claiming three wickets each as St Just dismissed the challengers for 71 in reply to their own 150 for six.
David Roberts gave St Just a start with 35, leaving Gareth May (40) and Gavin Edwards (35no) to top up the total.
Welsh side Sudbrook were crushed by seven wickets in the final. Sudbrook's semi-final opponents, Gosport, had given them a walk over.
The wickets were shared around as Sudbrook were dismissed for 79 with more than thre overs to go. Neil Curnow (26) and Roberts gave St Just a 60-run start, which was game over for all practical purposes.
St Just will represent the South and West at the national finals in Cardiff on September 28. ECB have put up a cash pot of £2,000 for the winners.
