New
sightscreens & scorebox at Kilmington
With
Kilmingtons new pavilion only a matter of two
years old, you might think that there wouldn't
be much to do at the club for a while.... Far
from it! Kilmingtons spring clean involved such
tasks as strimming, oiling the bench seats, getting
the kitchen spotless, tidying and cleaning the
changing rooms to name but a few.
Apart
from all the run of the mill chores, the main
aim of Kilmingtons Natwest Cricket Force day was
a new scorebox. A club member managed to secure
timber at cost (plus a discount) and the scorebox
was started. All man hours provided to construct
the scorebox were free of charge with the club
members chipping in to help where they could.
An
unforeseen but extremely welcome bonus of Natwest
CricketForce came from a member of the local community.
The individual had seen the rather 'shabby and
dilapidated' sightscreens and offered to help.
Well,
the help came by way of a cheque to cover the
cost of two new sightscreens, and the screens
were delivered a day before the CricketForce weekend
and were erected and finish painted the day after.
Once
the scorebox is up and running, the club will
have these extra assets to use, probably worth
about three and a half thousand pounds, and only
having to find around seven to eight hundred pounds
from club funds.
The
club would like to thank all those who turned
up and helped on the day and have offered to help
in coming days, and especially the very generous
donor of the spanking new sight screens.
