DEVON Dumplings failed to set a competitive target in an all-day game at West Buckland School

Early batsmen threw their wickets away with reckless shots on a wicket of inconsistent bounce.

Only Dan Bowser showed any resolution, facing 170 balls for 68 before he was last man out. Heuston Engel contributed a quick 21.

Lunching at 98 for eight the later batters did well to hoist the total to 143 in 56.1 overs, 44 runs coming from the last two wickets.

The School knocked off the runs in 33.5 overs with Tom Mitcham (39), Matt Down (31) and Jas Kalsi (40 not out) being the chief contributors. Gareth Tidball was the only successful Dumplings bowler with three for 46 as the School cruised to a comfortable victory.

   Devon Dumplings 143 (D Bowser 68, H Engel 21, D Vick 4-24, J Kalsi 2-53, J Wittram 3-27), West Buckland School 144-4 (T Mitcham 39, J Kalsi 40no, M Down 31; G Tidball 3-46). West Buckland bt Dumplings by 6 wkts.
