WEDENESDAY, MAY 7

AFTER the disappointment of being washed-out at Exeter School a week earlier, the Devon Dumplings took a reasonably strong team to Plymouth College

The Dumplings batted slowly and solidly to reach 147 for nine in 40 overs. Five batsman got into double figures with Sam Vaughan top scorer with 33 followed by Andrew Parr (26) and Jon Tipper (24.).

The wickets were spread out amongst the College with four bowlers taking two wickets each.

The team believed that this was a good score on the wicket. This proved totally wrong as the College opening batsmen knocked off the runs in 20.5 overs for no wickets. Harry Stephenson, grandson of former Somerset captain Harold Stephenson, made 100 not out. Jake Luffman, son of the current Tavistock skipper, made 34 not out.
