DEVON Dumplings' match against the Old Blundellians at the School was cancelled because of a wet square.
The Club had better luck against the Old Plymothians at Plymouth College on.
Due to misunderstandings the Dumplings had only 9 players, but the home club provided 2 subs in the field.
The OPMs looked liked heading for a very big score, led by P.Garland (80), T.Watkins (35) and Chris Barr (45) but slowed off in the later overs and declared at 226 for 7 after 39 overs. Rob Newman took 4 for 50 in 9 overs. A feature of the Dumplings bowling was the 4 'wickets' off no balls.
The Dumplings started very slowly but the arrival at the fall of the 2nd wicket of Houston Engel galvanised the innings.
Partnered by Harrison Folland (35) he struck 150 and was caught off a skier with three runs apparently wanted to win. The Dumplings lost their last wicket through a run out on the last ball of the last over (the 38th). The wickets were shared between 4 OPM bowlers and there were 2 run outs.
An audit by scorers, however, revealed that the match was a tie, 226 each.
