DEVON Dumplings got their season off to a winning start at Exeter School with a 41-run victory in a 40-overs-a-side game.

   After the early loss of Graham White and James Street, the Dumplings innings was steadied by Exeter's Marshall Hood (25) and Thorverton's Kobi Griggs, who went on to rattle up a rapid 85.

   The innings closed at 202 for six.

   Despite excellent contributions from Henry Parkin (45) and Jack Pritchard (47), the School could only muster 161.

   For the Dumplings, Griggs also starred with the ball, taking four for 30, while Phil Chapple chipped in with two for 18.
