DEVON Dumplings overcame horrendous team-raising problems to beat Warwickshire Imps by four wickets.

Due to cry-offs on the morning of the match, the Dumplings only had nine players when they arrived at Budleigh for the game.

The Imps, normally one of their strongest sides the Dumplings play, loaned their hosts a player to give them 10.

The Imps were asked to bat and fell apart against the Hatherleigh pace bowler, Houston Engel, who took a wicket in each of his first five overs - four bowled and one lbw.

Engel ended with six for 36 from 10 overs as the Imps stumbled to 103 all out.

The Dumplings made a reasonable start with Heathcoat's Guy Bucknell making a quick 20, but stuttered in the 80s.

Exeter's James Street held the innings together with 29 not out and the Dumplings won comfortably in the 25th over.

   Warwickshire Imps 103 (H.Engel 6-36),   Devenon Dumplings 104-6   (G Bucknell 20, J Street 29no). Dumplings bt Warwickshire Imps by 4 wkts.
