Babbacombe end long wait for trip to Arron Printers Cup final

BABBACOMBE are on the way to the Aaron Printers Cup final for the first time since 1997 after beating Barton in the first semi-final of this season’s competition.

The Walls Hill outfit have won the cup five times since the competition began in 1951 – the last being their win over Chudleigh at Queens Park by nine wickets

Steve Broad was a young member of the last cup-winning side – and 18 years on is the captain.

Cameron Fryer top scored for Babbacombe with 51 and Mile Pught made 20 as Babbacombe reached 145 for five in the semi-final at Abboskerswell.

Ian Jarman (2-35) and Kyle Lardner (2-23) took two wickets each for Barton.

Tim Goodwin (3-19) led the way with the ball, aided and abetted by Fryer (2-9) and Paul Bates (2-19) as Barton were bowled out for 67 in reply.

The second semi-final takes place this Thursday night at Torquay where Abbotskerswell will take on Bovey Tracey.
