Openers make light work of chase in cup final

EXETER Under 15s beat Yelverton by 10 wickets at the County Ground in the Devon final of the ECB Cup.

Yelverton were never allowed to get going against tight bowling from all of Exeter bowlers and a fine fielding display.

The visitors could only amass 84 for eight off their 20 overs with Alex Smith top scoring with 17 and Josh Hellings 13 not out.

Ben Abrahams (2-12) and James Bovey (2-15) led the Exeter attack for four overs each. Monty Crowe (2-7) supported well for overs. Ben Hayes and Rob Dunn had a wicket each.

Tom Lammonby took three catches and wicketkeeper Mike Cooper claimed two victims.

Openers Jamie Khan and James Bovey made light work of the chase and took only 10 overs to reach 87.

Khan hit a six and five fours from 30 balls in his 42 not out. Bovey had six fours in his 34 not out off 22 balls.
