Plympton, Cornwood and Plymouth among awards night winners

PLYMPTON, Cornwood and Plymouth players – men and women – were among the winners at the Devon Cricket Board awards evening.

Sandy Park was the venue for the evening, which used to the known as the DCB Youth Awards evening.

This year it was extended to the county’s adult sides too – both men’s and ladies.

More than 300 players, coaches, parents and well-wishers attended the event, hosted by Mike Dibble, the cricket-mad dad of England ladies all-rounder Jodie Dibble.

Guest of honour was Ryan Stevenson, the Devon fast bowler signed by Hampshire during the season on a two-year contract after impressing in Minor Counties cricket.

Among the first awards handed out by Stevenson was the batting award for the Girls Under-13 team.

Cornwood’s Rebecca Halliday (right) was the runaway winner for her tally of 621 runs for the season at a whopping aveage of 124. She hit four hundreds and three 50s.

Jonty Walliker, who plays for Plympton, was bowler of the year for the Boys Under-14 team,. He took 17 wickets with a best of five for 34.

Plymouth’s Joe Hagan- Burt was named batsman of the year for the Under-16 team. He scored 375 runs at an average of 75.

Matt Petherbridge, the former Cornwood player who travels up from Plymouth to play for Torquay, was the bowler of the year in the Under-16 side.

Dan Goodey, another Plymouth player, was bowler of the year for Devon Under-17s. He took 25 wickets at 19.48 each.

Plympton’s Imogen Beaasley with 207 runs at an average of 23 was the Under-17 girls batter of the season. Yelverton’s Stephanie Hutchins claimed bowler of the year in the same age group.

Plympton lady cricketers took the batting and bowling awards for the Devon Ladies side.

England international Amara Carr was batter of the season and Hazelle Garton the bowler of the year.
