Devon followed up their opening win in the Championship the previous week by putting in a polished display to beat Hampshire by 105 runs. At the picturesque setting of Blundells School , Devon had no hesitation in opting to bat first on after winning the toss on what looked like a pretty decent batting track. Openers Olivia Anderson and Heather Knight went along at over 4 an over as they took full advantage of a good wicket and punished any wayward bowling. Knight got to her fifty first from 83 balls closely followed by Anderson , 88 balls. Anderson was the first wicket to fall as she mistimed a drive and was caught at short extra cover off the bowling off the impressive Hillman. Knight was joined Amara Carr, still making her way back from injury and together they added a further 54 in ten overs before Carr fell in a similar fashion to Anderson, this time caught at mid off attempting to go over the top. There was no respite for the visitors as skipper Lottie Miles then bludgeoned 22 from 12 balls in a stand of 65 with Knight who passed her 100 from 132 balls and then cut loose in the batting powerplay as she added a further 61 from 27 balls to finish unbeaten on 161 as Devon totaled 276-3 to set a daunting target for Hampshire.

Hampshire's innings got off to the wost start as they lost opener White caught in front by Miles off the bowling of Rebecca Donohue in the first over. Fellow opener Basketter soon followed as she was caught by Andeson off the bowling of Nicole Richards, getting a top edge as she attempted the sweep. When Hartnett was bowled by fellow spinner Piddock, Hampshire were on 45-3 in the 26 th over and a long way off their victory target. Natasha Raine was batting well enough , she was joined by Sara Fogwill and the pair added 85 for the 4 th wicket without really showing enough intent to challenge the home side's total. Clara Nielson returned to claim two wickets in two balls but that was the last success the Devon bowlers tasted as Raine batted through and was left 3 runs short of a 100 as she finished on 97 no. Other positives were the return of Jodie Dibble, although not bowling she looked to be moving freely in the field and fellow youngster Amara Carr also came through 50 overs behind the timber relatively unscathed and looks close to full fitness. Devon next travel to Wolverhampton to play Staffordshire on 24 th May.
