Successful South Africa Trip

The 2003 Devon Under 14s have just completed their most successful and enjoyable trip to South Africa to date. This was the third tour undertaken  by a Devon Development squad to SA and it has been a wonderful opportunity for all the players and officials to enjoy an outstanding country and gain  vital experience of playing against high quality opponents.

The squad was lead by Mount Wise's Will Murray and comprised -
 

Danny  Carroll (Plymouth College); Gary Chappell (Kentisbeare); Iain Crombie (North Devon); Dan Hardy (Bradninch); Charles Martin (Mount Wise); Harry McDowell (Heathcoat); James Nicholls (Plymouth); Oliver Robinson (Mount Wise); Joel Seward (Axminster); Joe Smith (Heathcoat); David Wrench (Plympton); Jamie Wyman (Exeter St James).
 

The side left Heathrow on Friday 6th February and returned on Sunday 22nd February. They were superbly hosted in Cape Town by the Western Province Cricket Association where the team played six fixtures in the Cape winning four.

10th February Southern Suburbs - won
11th February Western Province U14s - lost
13th February

Langa Development Xl - won

15th February Western Province U15s - won
16th February Boland Under 15s - lost

The party then flew to the Kruger National Park, where they were splendidly looked after by Krieket Skukuza Cricket Association and they won both of their fixtures by reasonable margins..

  20th February Ehlanzeni Under 15s -won

On rest days the party had plenty of opportunities to explore South Africa including a trip up Table Mountain, a beach BBQ, they visited Robben Island and the Cape of Good Hope plus experiencing the game at close hand and at the same time a Bush Braai in the Kruger National Park.
