DCB Bob Bridges Cup
East Devon Rules
On a perfect summers day Paignton Cricket Club did Devon Youth Cricket proud with a splendid finals day. In the morning the exceptionally strong Sidmouth Under 13 squad outplayed a very plucky Ivybridge side. Chasing a score over 200 Ivybridge did not pass the hundred. James Toland was the East Devon side's leading contributor with a 50 and four wickets. The Devon 2005 Under 15 Champions are Heathcoat whose captain Sam Smith won the toss and batted. Totnes made early inroads into the Bradley League side and it was Will Denford who put them back on course with a vital 38. The Tiverton side were all out for 148. Totnes, with skipper Scott Stevenson and Davis making good early progress, lost their way when spinner Justin Williams struck including a two in two. Once the heart of the South Devon side had been ripped out two partnerships full of character took the local side past the hundred. Paignton were outstanding hosts under the direction of Chris and Di Kelmere and the Board would thank the club and umpires Western, Smith, Quinn and Gale for making the day possible.
