The field was immediately set deep to give him the single, excellent captaincy, and Jonny "Test Match" Atkinson the strike. It worked and frustrated, Dellar got out shortly followed by Sewall. At lunch they were 116-4 with 17 overs left. Afterwards Cambridgeshire came out with a completely different approach, big hits followed sharp singles but intense fielding resulted in 4 run outs. The "Champagne" moment of the festival, both batsmen found themselves at the keepers end and instead of throwing the ball to the bowler, Buzz sprinted the length of the pitch to run one of them out- just- by a short head or helmet! Laugh or cheer or cry? Cambridgeshire finished on 223.
Devon needed a solid start but got a spectacular one! Tidball and James Parkin put on 64 off 11 overs. Joe joined Parky and the carnage continued and after another 8 overs the score is 120 before Parky 61, plays back and is LBW just before tea. Scott Boardman has been promoted to 4 due to Fletch's injury and together with Webby 42, they continue batting intelligently. At 150-3 in the 26th over Robbie Debenham 35 not out, joins Scott 32 not out, and they knock the runs off with out too much trouble and with 8 overs to spare. Brilliant stuff!! The management are "over the moon" and Phil scores a wonder goal in the cool down!
Cambridgeshire join Devon that evening to watch the video and friendships are formed and a good time is had by all, whilst some valuable cricket lessons are learned from the video!
