"Are they Human?"

Thunderstorms, a very heavy shower and an enormous lunch did their best to try and spoil the day at the Maer but thanks to Exmouth Cricket Club, the Umpires and the players an entertaining game of cricket, including some awesome fielding and catching, was played.

Water had crept under the covers and having been put in on a damp track Devon's Gary Chappell and Joe Smith (32) found it difficult putting on 51 in 19 overs. The heavens opened and an early lunch

was taken (30-0 off 14 overs)- then a review of the match to 40 overs each meant Devon had 26 overs remaining. The openers immediately pushed on before Iain Crombie (21) and David Wrench (42), who played superbly, picked up the tempo taking eventually one too many risky single- 68 partnership off 11 overs. Will Murray and Joel Seward then added 18 off the last 2.2 overs to give Devon the impetus and a score of 162-4 off their 40 overs.

In dry windy conditions Oli Robinson struggled but decided he had had enough (after 1 over!) and was replaced by Gary Chappell whose first ball was wonderfully caught by Joe Smith one handed diving at short extra cover. Joel Seward bowled well before Robinson replaced him and Danny Carroll took a fantastic catch to remove the dangerous Rhys Wilson diving forward at cover point. Chappell who bowled very accurately then bowled O Jones. Smith took another great catch before Carroll took a stunning one handed mid air catch off a powerfully hit shot in the covers to remove Williams.Chappell took his third wicket, Harry McDowel had A Jones well caught behind by Dan Hardy off an inside edge and there was a run out before Crombie, that "20 looking year old", took two wickets and Wales were left clinging on for survival as the overs ran out. 135-9 off 40 overs.

Another well earned win for the much improved Devon Under 14's.

Devon Won By 27 runs.
