Under 11 Inter District Reports - 7th May 2006

West v South –West won by 191 runs

The home side started very quickly with a high run rate. Rhys Davies scored an excellent 1001 before retiring. This innings was a fine example of outstanding stroke play with many boundaries including two sixes. He was well supported by a steady innings from Cloud who also retired when he reached 50. Michael Couzens scored a rapid 65 with solid support from Ryan Rickard. The imposing target of 295 set by the West would test any side chasing at 7.38 an over... Daniel Escott took the two wickets that fell to the South who conceded 60 extras.

The West opening bowlers Mailing and Sale for the second successive game started well – bowling quickly and accurately. Sale took two early wickets and the visitors were struggling from the start. Dan Escott (15) offered resistance before being trapped in front by Newton. Couzens (4-31) completed a fine all round performance mopping up the tail, in failing light the South were defeated with 16 overs unused. The game was played in excellent spirit on a fine track and our thanks to Cornwood C.C. for making it all possible.
