Kent v Devon

ESCA Festival

Kings, Taunton

Kent total too much for Devon

Rain finally had it's say at the Festival as the game against Kent didn't get underway until 3.15. The match was reduced to 35 overs a side and after winning the toss Devon put Kent in to bat. Alex Carr removed both openers to have Kent at 36-2 but Devon were unable to stem the floe of runs. Two wickets for Henry Parkin and a tidy spell from Miles Lenygon helped peg back the Kent lads but the last four overs unfortunately went for 40 runs to leave Devon requiring 198 to win.

The plan was to get between 80 and 100 runs from the first twenty overs and providing wickets were in hand attack from there. Plenty of batsman got starts and with seventeen overs gone James Toland was sent in to hopefully repeat his heriocs of the previous day. It wasn't to be as he fell fro just eleven. The chase was abandoned and Matthew Thompson togther with Alex Carr guided Devon to a second batting point and keep them in with a chance of winning the Festival going into the final day.
