Devon recorded their second victory in three days with a convincing 75 run victory over Gloucestershire at Stowell C C. Put into bat Devon lost Lewis Gregory early on but Luke Tuckett shared in another good partnership as he and skipper Matthew Hickey put on 93 for the second wicket. Hickey went on to complete his first century of the season before lunch as Devon closed on 149-3 at lunch. He didn't add to his score as he was out first ball after lunch for a well made 102. Gloucester responded well and made inroads into the Devon middle order. The Sidmouth pair of Will Gater 40 no and Paris Pinney 14 turned things around as Devon posted 232-9. Gloucestershire never really got in a good blow as a sound bowling and fielding performance kept the home side in check. At 58-5 it looked as though Devon would bowl the hosts ou but two of their middle order hung around to take the match the full distance. The bowling was generally economical but never really looked threatening on a pretty good batting track. James Toland 2-25 and Miles Lenygon 2-27 were the pick of the bowling. Toby Ingham bowled a tify spell on debut and Paris Pinney picked up his first county wicket as Devon coasted home by 75 runs. Home | Scorecard |
