JJ Debenham made an impressive start to his Devon career as he returned figures of 7-32 on debut at Exmouth. Devon skipper Matthew Hickey won the toss and elected to bat. An excellent opening stand of 110 between Lewis Gregory and Luke Tuckett was the basis of a sizeable total by the hosts. Gregory was joined by his skipper and together they added a further 127 for the second wicket. Hickey went on to make 51 and Gregory was unlucky to fall seven short of a first hundred for the county. On a good batting track, the home seamers struggled to make any impact, although a couple of catches could have been taken early on. The introduction of the spinners turned things around. Nathan Bulley bowled a tidy spell of seven overs for 18 runs. It was his partner at the other end who did the damage, taking seven wickets including a hat trick. Miles Lenygon and Alex Carr finished off the rest as Devon eased home by 123 runs. Devon 257 -3 West Wales 134 all out Devon won by 123 runs |
