Rain had interrupted play for 13 minutes and the infamous masts were now fading from sight. The final score of 272 was too many but it was now critical that twenty overs were bowled to make it a game. The message was clear bowl quickly and yet it did not seem to have got through as everyone appeared oblivious to the importance. Bowlers strolled back to full run ups and there was a general casual attitude, as we were in real trouble as the masts had disappeared and the oncoming rain was clearly visible. Two run outs were completed, Smith – Acton and Whittle direct as he outpaced the batsman but the game was over at 34-2 after 11 overs. It is unknown if the extra nine overs could have been bowled in the thirty-five minutes play – probably doubtful but the lack of awareness was the first real disappointment since the Haberdashers game. Of course all the other games were completed, our rivals picked up full points and our certain five points were just two. We would now have to play both catch up and exceptionally well over the final two days. It would not be easy. We watched John Tucker Must Die, starring the attractive Jesse Metcalfe, Brittany Snow, Ashanti Douglas, Sophia Bush and probably the story line based on the lifestyle of Seb Benton.
