Gary Chappell

for West Indies

Kentisbear's Gary Chappell can look forward to two very exciting trips in 2004. He will be touring South Africa with the Devon Development squad in February and then in April will be visiting the West Indies with the West of England Under 14 squad. Chappell follows in a most distinguished list of Devonian's who have undertaken this trip. They include Chris Read, James Fulton, Russell Knapman, Matt Wood, Steven Edmonds and the two Bettiss Neil and Mark. Whilst in 2003 Devon were represented by Matt Cooke, James Fraser and Justine Yau.

Chappell, who attends Exeter School, is a left arm medium pace swing bowler and he also bats left handed. His highest scores for Devon were made in 2002 for the under 13s when he took 75 off the Wiltshire attack and scored 73 against Gloucestershire. His best county bowling figure is currently 5-34 for the under 14s against Gloucestershire last summer. He also plays soccer and rugby.
