Plymouth Peverell beat Plymstock A by 3 wktsPlymouth

Plymouth Peverell won the toss and chose to put Plymstock into bat. Tight early bowling and the dismissal of the Plymstock openers for relatively low scores meant that after ten overs they had only reached 32 runs.

These dismissals brought to the wicket Hallam Kerton and Mark Partington-Smith who helped put together a respectable total of 102; Kerton made 33 whilst Partington-Smith remained 31 not out. Pick of the Plymouth bowlers was H Barnes (4 -0-11–1) and Pasi Mawalage (4-0-15-1). In reply Plymouth Peverell got off to a quick start, scoring 49 for the first wicket off only five overs. The bulk of these runs being scored by Pasi Mawalage (42) which included two sixes over mid off. Plymstock penned Plymouth Peverell back with the taking of regular wickets and some tight bowling in the latter overs which made for a nervous finish with Plymouth scraping home with two balls remaining and two wickets in hand. Pick of the Plymstock bowlers was Kerton (3.4-0-7-1) and Partington-Smith (4-010-1). Tavistock play Plymouth Peverell in the Quarter Finals.

Plymouth Mount Wise won the toss and chose to bat on a lovely summer’s evening. Good batting by Luke Dickinson (14) and Ben Stein with a superb Captain’s innings (55) saw Mount Wise well on their way. A great knock by Jack Wignall (24) together with regular runs by the rest of the batting order saw Mount Wise to a useful total of 138 for 8 off the allotted 20 overs. Pick of the Plymstock bowlers were Billy Gibson (4-0-15-3) and Charlie O’Higgins (4-0-30-3).

In reply Plymstock struggled to get going against the Mount Wise pace attack. Pick of these were Dominick Bryant (4-0-8-2) and Jack Wignall (3-0-13-2). The game then completely went in Mount Wise’s favour with the introduction of leg spinner Liam Edmonds with a five-wicket haul who, on this pitch which had plenty of bounce, proved too much for Plymstock batsmen. His figures of 4-2-19-5 may well have been even better had chances been taken. It was left to pace man Mark Rose to clean up the tail for a comfortable Mount Wise win by 68 runs.
