GIRL POWER TOO STRONG FOR PLYMSTOCK
Plymstock v Ford Park Girls ( 08/05/06 )
Plymstock became the first victim of the all girl team from Ford Park as they slipped to a twelve run defeat. In a game that was dominated by the ball, the hosts were restricted to 182 thanks to some impressive bowling from Freya Jesty who claimed 4-8 and Julia Hayes who took 3-3. There were wickets also for Jake Bellison 2-8 and Ben Underwood 2-7 but the girls managed to hold on for a well deserved first win.
Plymouth Civil Service v Cornwood Oaks ( 02/05/06 )
Civil Service entertained Cornwood Oaks at Beacon Down and fielded a side that contained 3 eight year olds. Some good tight bowling and neat fielding restricted the Oaks to a total of 224. Rebecca Piddock was the pick of the bowling with 1-5. In reply there was two wickets for Ryan Rickard but Piddock completed a fine all round game as she made an unbeaten 18 to complete a 24 run win for Civil.
Yelverton v Plympton ( 03/05/06 )
Yelverton struggled against a disciplined Plympton bowling line up. Callum Watkins led the way with 4-2 and Rhys Wlaton 3-7 whilst there was two wickets apiece for J Mullin and T Richards as Yelverton slipped to a total of 146. The Plympton batting was efficient with five of their batsman making positive contributions, skipper M Smith top scoring with an unbeaten 13. There was three wickets for Ackford but this wasn't enough to prevent the hosts slipping to a 83 run defeat. RICARD 5 WICKWT HAUL IN VAIN
Whitchurch v Cornwood Oaks (11 th May)
Cornwood Oaks slipped to a 15 run defeat at the hands of Whitchurch despite a five wicket haul for Ryan Rickard. Bowlers were generally on top as there was also a three wicket haul for D Nightingale as well as 3-4 for H Kisby of Whitchurch.
Ivybridge v Cornwood Delamere (09 th May)
A fine individual performance for Josh Mailling secured a close win for Ivybridge against near neighbours Cornwood Delamere. In a total of 224 he top scored with 22. In addition he took 2 wickets to add to the two of P Archer which helped to keep Ivybridge ahead and an 8 run win.
Tavistock v Plympton (11 th May)
Defending champions Tavistock eased to a comfortable 54 run win against Plympton. All of the their batsmen made positive contributions bar one, Michael Cousens top scoring with 20. Freddie Jayarajah 3-11 and Jonty Newton 2-17 kept Plympton on the back foot as they were never able to challenge the home side's total. Richards puts girls to the sword
Plympton v Ford Park Girls (5 th June)
Tom Richards put in a superb all round performance scoring 43 with the bat to go with his 4 wickets.
Cornwood Oaks v Plymstock
Two well matched sides played out a close game which was won by Plymstock. Plymstock batted first and scored 240 for the loss of only two wickets. Cornwood made a good reply with De-Mendonca 12 and Rickard 15 top scoring. T Finch took 2 wickets.
Whitchurch v Tavistock
Tavistock were given a fright by near neighbours Whitchurch as they got home by 13 runs. Rhys Davies top scored with 30. C Swash replied with 25 whilst Jamie Stephens took 3-9 for Tavistock
Cornwood Oaks v Ivybridge
Ivybridge were asked to bat by their host and added 48 for the first wicket, Josh Maillimh making an unbeaten 25 and McGrath chipping in with 17. Cobbold took 2-12 to keep the score in cjeck. Cornwood lost early wickets to put them on the back foot. Rickard and Nightingale steadied the ship and set the game up for a tight finish. Another loss of wickets saw the hosts slip to a 10 run defeat. Anderton 4 wicket haul maintains Civil's unbeaten start
Cornwood Dales v Plymouth Civil Service (07 th June)
Civil Service batted first and got off to a steady start, Callum Cload making an unbeaten 10. Rebecca Piddock held the middle order to get with 26 to lay the foundation for a competitive 258. J Horgan picked up 2-20. The Dales replied and against some penetrative bowling lost wickets on a regular basis which hampered their progress. Jacob Anderton led the way for Civil with 4-23 whilst Piddock completed a fine individual performance with 2-4.
Plymstock v Yelverton (07 th June)
Plymstock posted 247 thanks to double figure scores from B Underwood (12), H Kerton (13) and Max Thomas (15). D Rogers took 2-8 for the visitors. A strong bowling performance from Plymstock, Ross Mahey 2-1, Will Caulfield 2-2, and Ben Underwood 2-5 did the damage.
Plymouth v Ivybridge (08 th June)
Ivybridge totalled 228 in a game that was dominated by the ball as both teams struggled to score runs. Plymouth made a decent fist of their reply but the fact that they lost two more wickets than Ivybridge was the difference between the sides as the visitors got home by 13 runs.
Plympton v Cornwood Dales (13 th June)
Plympton kept close neighbours the Dales well in hand as they restricted the visitors to just 196. Two wickets apiece for Callum Watkins (2-10), Rhys Walton (2-19) and J Worth (2-7) were the the leading wicket takers in an impressive bowling display. B Beaumont responded for the Dales with 4-24 and with J Horgan taking 2-21 put in a spirited effort to stem the flow of runs. The Plympton batsmen continued to score heavily though as they totalled 272 to give them a 76 run win. |
