Plymouth set about their target well enough with all their batsmen making starts, three passing 20. Mount Wise picked up wickets at regular intervals as the big innings required never materialised. A good performance from Mount Wise as they got off the mark for the season. Chris Lock and Sam Cload took the fielding honours.
A fine opening partnership of 103 by Willacy 67 and Tookey 30 in 14 overs set up Ivybridge for a convincing win over local rivals Cornwood. Ivybridge's final total of 139 proved too much for Cornwood as tight bowling in the middle of the innings restricted Cornwood to a final total of 67-8. L Webber returned figures of 3-9 from his four overs. D Pople and J Organ were the nominated fielders.
Two fine catches by Jebb at the start of the Ivybridge innings removed both openers. However a good stand of 66 between Ben Karkeek and Dale Mordaunt in the middle allowed Ivybridge to finish their 20 overs on 101-6. Pick of the Kingsbridge bowling was Joe Smith with 3-21. Steady bowling from all the Ivybridge bowlers saw the visitors bowled out for 43 in the 16 th over. David Willacy returned with 5-7.
Plympton piled up 184-5 against Kingsbridge, Craig Donahue 54 and David Wrench 41 leading the way. There were good contributions from Hefford, Cowing and Skinner. In reply Kingsbridge got off to a bad start losing 4 wickets with the score on 6. T Howourth 4-10 and R Skinner 3-11 doing the early damage. Jebb 12 and Stapper 16 were the only players to make it to double figures. Celia Hayes and Rob Skinner were nominated as fielders of the match.
David Wrench was in the runs again as he piled up 83 in Plympton's 131-2 against Mount Wise. He shared a 108 2 nd wicket stand with Michael Cowing 29 no. Mount Wise never got going against a disciplined home attack. Only Ollie Robinson 37 no and James Fletcher 16 got to grips with things as they shared a 52 partnership for the 4 th wicket. |
