The Bob Bridges Cup Competition
RULES 2006
1. Entrance to the Bob Bridges Youth Competition will be via the four regional leagues in Devon, at each age group, (Under 13 and Under 15). The winners from each area will be entered for the Competition.
2. Each region should nominate its representatives by the 6th August.
3. Progression to the finals will be via a knockout competition. The Draw for 2006 was made and under 13s South home to West and North home to East. Under 15s East host West and South home to the North.
4. The format of the knockout stage is given below. Matches will start at 2.00 p.m. with tea between innings.
5. Sides drawn at home will host the match, the Devon Cricket League paying £50.00 to the home side only, towards the cost of ground rent/preparation and teas. The Home Side shall be entirely responsible for arrangement of the fixture and contact with the appointed umpires and the Organiser. Two dates must be offered to the opposing team. Failure to agree a date will result in a date being specified by the Organiser.
6. Each Club will provide their own umpire. If the club wishes to provide a neutral umpire from the DCUS they do so at their own expense
7. The finals will be played at Paignton CC on Monday August 28th. The Under 13s starting at 10 a.m. and the Under 15s at 2.30 p.m.

* In a rain/light affected match, the number of overs to be reduced to a minimum of 18, in accordance with Devon League Rule 13, g first paragraph. The number of overs allowed per bowler shall be reduced proportionately, any part overs being rounded up.
+ At the quarter and semi-final stage each side to provide their own ball. The Devon Cricket Board will provide two new balls per match at the final.
9. Wides and No Balls: except during the last over of each innings, any delivery any delivery adjudged to be a wide or a no ball shall count two runs to the total. No extra ball shall be bowled in the over. During the last over of each innings MCC law shall apply.
10. In a full match, the side scoring the highest number of runs will be the winner. In the event of a tie, the side with the least wickets will be awarded the game. If these are equal the game will be awarded to the side with the fastest scoring rate, if still equal, then to the side with the highest number of sixes and finally the highest number of fours.
11. In the event of bad weather affecting the result of a match:-
a) Where a match is rained off after the team batting first has completed its innings, the team batting second shall have its total revised as follows:
One over shall be deducted for every 3 minutes of playing time lost and the target total shall be calculated by multiplying the remaining available overs by the run rate of the side batting first.
b) Where no play is possible on the backup date, a simple bowl down will take place, having regard to the safety of the players concerned. Each player shall bowl at the stumps. The winning team will be that which makes the greater number of hits. or Where, in the Umpires' view, conditions are too dangerous for any of the above, the result of the match shall be decided by the toss of a coin.
12. The winning side is responsible for sending the results, to the organiser, to be received within 48 hours of the fixture.
13.
A player may represent a club in the competition if he/she is U13 or U15 years
of age on 1st September 2004. All players must be bona fide
junior members of the club they represent and may play for only one club in
the competition in any one season. A player must be registered with the
regional league in which they participate. A player who plays for more than
one Devon league club MUST NOMINATE prior to the commencement of the
season (1st May) to the competition organiser which club he/she
will represent. Failure to comply with this rule will result in that player
being illegible to subsequently compete and disqualification for the club
concerned should the player take part in the competition.
14. All matches to be played in the SPRIT OF THE GAME, all
current ECB rule and regulations are to be followed at all times. With ECB
guidelines to Disciplinary procedures adhered to..
PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT MANAGERS HAVE A DUTY OF CARE WITH PARTICULAR REGARD TO SAFETY & LIGHT. THE WEARING OF HELMETS SHOULD BE ENFORCED AT ALL TIMES.
UMPIRES ARE TO BE INSTRUCTED TO STRICTLY ENFORCE LAW 42.6. (THE BOWLING OF SHORT PITCHED BALLS AND FAST HIGH FULL PITCHES).

Palladium League Entry
The side in 1st position in the Under 13 and Under 15 league table at midnight on 6th August shall represent the League in this competition. If this produces two or more sides from each League, then the League representative from sides with the same number of points will be determined as follows:
11.1 By the results of the league match(es) played between the sides concerned that season.
11.2 If this does not resolve the situation, then the representative(s) will be the side(s) taking most wickets up to 6th August.
11.3 If this does not resolve the situation, then the representative(s) will be the side(s) losing least wickets up to 6th August.
11.4 If this does not determine the League representative, the decision will be made by a toss of a coin.
