Palladium Youth Cricket League Rules Under 11 Competition
1. All players shall be under the age of 11 on 1st September preceding the year of the Competition. All Clubs shall hold a list of players with dates of birth. A copy of this list must be given to the League Registration Secretary before the first game.
2. New players shall not play until 7 (seven) days from receipt of a registration form by the Registration Secretary.
3. Players may play for only one Club in their particular age group in any season. A Club may enter one or more teams in the League but each team shall be considered a separate Club. Should this rule be breached, on appeal two points will be deducted for each breach.
4. The pitch shall be 20 yards in length
5. The HOME side shall provide the match ball, which shall weigh 4¾ ozs
6. Each team shall comprise 8 players
7. Each game shall consist of 1 innings per side. Each innings shall be of 20 overs duration. (16 overs when time is restricted)
8. The batting side shall be divided into pairs. Each pair shall bat for 5 overs. Pairs shall change at the end of the 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th overs. (In a 15 overs game after 3 overs at the end of the 4th, 8th, 12thand 16thovers.)
9. Batsman shall have unlimited lives, but each life shall result in eight runs being deducted from the total. Batsman shall change ends at the fall of each wicket except on the last ball of an over.
10. Each player on the fielding side MUST bowl, with the exception of the wicket-keeper. No bowler shall bowl more than 4 overs. (3 overs in a 16 over game.)
11. Each team shall commence its innings with a score of TWO HUNDRED RUNS.
12. The winning team shall be the side scoring the highest number of runs after deductions for the fall of wickets.
13. No player in this age group or younger shall be allowed to field closer than 11 yards (10 metres) from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the off side, until the batsman has played at the ball. A fielder shall be allowed to move into the restricted area to make a catch or field the ball provided they were outside the area when the stroke was made. These minimum distances apply even if the player is wearing a helmet. Should a young player in this age group come within the restricted distance the Umpire must stop the game immediately and instruct the fielder to move back
14. In accordance with the Laws of the Game a substitute shall be allowed to take the place of an injured player. Such substitute shall only act as a non-striker whilst his team is batting. (In such circumstances the live batsman shall receive continuously.) Such substitute shall only act as a fielder whilst his team is fielding. Any over(s) which would have been bowled by the injured player shall be shared between the remaining six fielders without exceeding their allocation
15. Points shall be awarded as follows:-
(a) 2 points for a win;
(b) 1 point for a tie - irrespective of wickets lost.
(c) 1 point per side for a match cancelled due to inclement weather
16. No League or Cup match shall be cancelled for reasons of inclement weather before 12.00 noon on the day of an evening match, nor before 18.00 on the day before a morning match. Cancellation shall be by arrangement between the Clubs concerned. The fixture shall be rearranged and the Result Secretary informed of the new date. With regard rearrangement the home club is responsible for contacting the away club offering appropriate new dates for consideration.
17. When a fixture is called off for reasons of inclement weather, the Home Side shall inform the Results Secretary as soon as the decision is made.
18. If a team fails to honour a fixture, then 2 points shall be deducted from the team's current League total and the fixture shall be re-arranged as in (16) above.
19. EIGHT players shall constitute a side for a match to be played.
20. A Club's inability to raise a side shall not be sufficient reason for the rearrangement of a fixture.
21. Clubs offending as in (20) above shall have deducted 2 points from its current league total and the fixture shall NOT be re-arranged.
22. Should a Club feel it has extenuating reasons for cancelling a match, then it shall address these reasons to the Management Committee and its decision shall be final.
23. At the start of the match, the home side should compile a result sheet listing both teams. This is to be completed during / after the match and sent to the Result Secretary within 48 hours (2 days).
24. A side's failure to comply with rule (23) above, will result in that side having 1 point deducted from its current league total.
25. Any player playing in the Palladium League and Cup Competitions must wear a helmet when batting and when standing up to the stumps when keeping wicket unless a parent or guardian has given prior written consent. The Umpires must be provided with a signed team sheet before the start of the match identifying any player who has parental consent not to wear a helmet.
26. The provision of Law 24 (6) – No Ball - ball bounces more than once; rolls along the ground SHALL NOT APPLY.
Cup Rules.
All rules to apply for each age group with the exceptions of rules 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 20, 21, 23 and 24. In addition the following rules will apply:-
A. Each team shall comprise of 11 players and eight players shall constitute a side for a match to be played.
B. Each bowler shall be entitled to a maximum of 4 overs.
C. A batsman must retire having scored 25 runs but may return when all the remaining batsman are dismissed. Retired batsman return in the same order they retired
D. The winning team shall be the side scoring the highest number of runs
E. Any Club cancelling a Cup tie for any reason other than inclement weather will automatically lose 2 batting overs
F. In the event of a tie, the result will be decided on wickets lost. If these are equal the tie will be replayed on the away side’s ground or in the case of the final on a neutral ground.
G. To be eligible to play in the cup competition a player must have played at least one league game for his club.
H. At the start of the match, the home side shall compile a result sheet listing both teams. This is to be completed and signed by both managers and returned by the WINNING MANAGER to the Result Secretary within 48 hours of the completion of the game. Failure to comply will result in disqualification from the competition and the side losing the round being offered the opportunity of taking up the place in the next round.
I. CUP DATES:-
Preliminary rounds to be played by the 13th May or decided by the toss of a coin.
Quarter-finals to be played by the 20th May or decided by the toss of a coin.
Semi-finals by the 31st July or decided by the toss of a coin
Final to be played on the 9th September 2007 at C.C.
Perpetual Trophies
Should a perpetual trophy not be returned for presentation, the League will arrange for a new trophy, fully inscribed with all previous winners, to be purchased and the total cost will be the responsibility of the club failing to return the trophy. (Clubs are advised to ensure their insurance policy covers for the loss of trophies, as the costs involved are likely to be in excess of £250.00). It would be appreciated if on return all trophies could have been cleaned and any damage made good.
