Youth Association Seeking Sponsors

Along with many cash strapped Minor Counties the Devon Cricket Board Youth Association are exploring all possible ways of increasing their income. They are currently trying to attract sponsors for their home matches, squads and community based schemes Their Chairman, Martin Webb, reported at a recent meeting  of the success of the appeal to Devon Clubs which raised a figure in excess of £700. He expressed the gratitude of the Youth Association to all Clubs who kindly contributed. He is most encouraged at the early response to the 2004 sponsorship appeal. He feels that the Youth Association, over the years, have been exceptionally well supported by Estate Agents Fulfords who have been very good to and for Devon cricket.
This year the Association have tried to widen their horizons and they have received an anonymous four figure donation, totally out of the blue, from a generous North Devonian couple. Clubs such as Chagford, Hatherleigh and Heathcoat are supplying their grounds and teas without charge this year and everywhere the clubs have been incredibly supportive to their problems. Plymouth based Solicitors Wolferstans have made a more than generous donation to the under 15s campaign. The Under 14 Manager, Jonathan Mears, is hoping to announce shortly a shirt sponsorship deal for his squad with another Plymouth based company. The Under 16/17 and Development squads will continue to be kitted out in Fulfords branded clothing. Another new venture in 2004 is that the Association are asking all  their players and families to participate in the annual Cricket Foundation Draw which will hopefully raise another substantial addition to the Youth coffers. Webb went on to say that although the Youth Association were unable to  wine and dine and provide corporate hospitality to their sponsors as do the first class sector, he was confident that the product produced by the Association was one that companies would want to be associated - the opportunity of providing cricket to the youth of Devon.
Martin Webb would be delighted to speak to any interested company or parties and discuss the options available.  Shirt and match sponsorship is immediately available for a number of squads and there are other avenues that can be explored including youth and school competitions plus community based schemes devised by the counties cricket development officer - Stuart Priscott.
