Drinks break 22 overs: the scorers could now have a breather.
With the score now 131, needing 171 to win, the pressure was on the
remaining batsmen. Fielding by South had been excellent all through
the first session. They could now sense an opportunity. |
Resumption: McDowell
and Debenham, probably the two quickest runners between the wickets,
chipped away at the total with a mixture of tip and run and the odd
4. McDowell (25 including four 4s) was trapped LBW Hill with score
on 154. Ingham having opened his innings with a 4, a few balls later
advanced down the wicket, missed the ball, and didn’t bother to
look back as Thompson whipped the bails off. The score by now 166
for 7 with 14 overs to go. Debenham (19 no) and Goss saw East home
in the 31st over. |
A very entertaining
game played in good spirit, with some excellent bowling and fielding
by South who never gave up and kept encouraging each other
throughout. |
East total:
173 for 7 (11 extras) off 31 overs
|
Special Note: Compliments to the Scorers and Umpires who were
kept very busy. Miles Lenygon has fully recovered and the bruising
will not affect his modelling career.
