Plymstock won the toss elected to field. The key to Civil's total was in losing only two wickets and with 44 extras managed to post a respectable 262. For an inexperienced side Plymstock bowled very well with half the team playing their first competitive match. James Bailey had an excellent game keeping wicket for the first time. Civil bowled tightly to keep the score down at the start of the reply. Ian White and Max Thomas shared 21, only spoilt by a run out in the eighth over. The remaining pairs could not manage to turn the game in Plymstock's favour and Civil ran out comfortable victors. James Bailey was nominated as the home side fielder of the match.
Ivybridge batted first against Whitchurch and were kept in check by some economical bowling. J Hair 2-7 an C Hoar 2-12 being the pick of the bowling. In the reply Whitchurch were helped to a narrow 2 run win by the Ivybridge bowling and fielding, who despite taking five wickets conceded 50 extras. Florence Huntingdon-Whitley and Richard Ashworth were name as fielders of the match.
Tooth ache struck just before the exchange of team sheets and Cornwood had to rearrange their plans but won the toss and fielded. Having competed well the previous week keeping Mount Wise down to plus 20 Plymouth utilised the lightning outfield to amass plus 130 losing just one wicket. From the home point of view no chances were missed and stand in keeper Luke Petherbridge did well enough behind the stumps to win the nomination of fielder of the match. The only wicket to fall was Alex Hill caught by the captain Goodliffe off Staddon, he finished on plus 15. Other major contributions came from W Dickinson, A Wase and J Hughes. The home side's target was to make a positive score and they failed by 5. The young home side kept around the 200 mark despite losing 8 wickets with Hughes taking 4-17. The visitor's keeper put in a polished performance and deservedly was their fielder of the match. nextNext |
