An
evenly contested match played in the right spirit. White and Thomas got
off to a good start then the Plympton bowlers started to contain notably
Rebecca Donohue and Blair Sturley playing his first game for the club.
Plympton’s reply was based on a fine 21 from Rebecca Donohue to
complete a fine individual effort but the loss of wickets in the final
pairings left the home side requiring two from the final ball. They managed
to scamper a single to leave the scores level. Ian White and Rebecca Donohue
picked up the fielding nominations.
Peverell Park enjoyed a run feast as Plymouth entertained Mount Wise.
The visitors batted first and five of their batsman passed 20, top score
was George Stephenson with a brutal 39. Alex Hill was the only bowler
to have any success as he took 2-26 in his four overs. Mount Wise have
always had the ability to take wickets and they did this to great effect
with only one bowler not picking up a wicket. Hill 22 and Dickenson 27
did make positive contributions but Plymouth were always behind the eight
ball as they fell 85 runs short to slip to their first league defeat.
N Wills and O Alam were the nominated fielders.
Some very tight and accurate bowling by Ivybridge made it difficult for
the Cornwood batsmen to score runs. Josh Mailling and Sam Marker took
two great catches in the field. Ben Bowen 3-8 and Ben Anning 3-6 were
the pick of the bowling. The Cornwood bowlers tried hard but Ivybridge
batted well all down the order with Harry Solomon 32 and Ben Anning 19
top scoring. A very sporting game played on a lovely summer evening at
Erme playing fields. The two fielders of the match were Josh Mailling
and Richard Bruce.
Civil Service won the toss and elected to bat. A combination of accurate
bowling and attacking field placements restricted the home side to 192.
Joss Stephens was the pick of an exceptional team bowling performance
finishing with 4-3. Although Civil Service took two early wickets Tavistock
ran out convincing winners by 53 runs. The two fielders were Jabed Ullah
and Joss Stephens.
Mount Wise were asked to bat and an impressive batting display with the
loss of only one wicket took the hosts to 319. Pick of the batting were
George Stephenson 25 and Chris Sanders 23. Tight bowling and the taking
of 8 wickets was the key to the hosts victory. Rhys Yates took the bowling
honours with 3-14. Another neat display from Amara Carr, including a super
catch behind earned her her second fielding award, J Smith picked it up
for Yelverton.
Two evenly matched sides competed in a thoroughly entertaining match with
Plymouth overcoming Ivybridge. Alex Hill made 26 with an exemplary display
of wicketkeeping from Ellery Jones, picking up the fielding award. Sam
Marker was nominated for Ivybridge.
Tavistock batted first with Pope and Scaglioni putting on 43 for the first
pair. 2nd and 3rd pairs also batted well without losing a wicket. The
final pair of Josh Stephens and Newton added 48 for the final pair. M
Smith was the pick of the Plympton bowling. Plympton batted soundly but
lost wickets at regular intervals. Jonty Newton 4-12 and Dominic Scaglioni
