Jamie
Overton (N captain) won the toss and decided to field first. Seamus
McKenna and Fergus Barratt provided a solid start racking up 40 for
the first wicket inside 8 overs. McKenna punished a selection of
'buffet' deliveries for 4 runs. Tom Ansell was first change and his
introduction bought the wicket of Barratt, smartly caught and bolwed
for 9. More boundaries flowed from the other end and the score moved
to 81 before MvKenna was bowled by Harry Booker for 41 (6x4s and
1x6). J Abbot and Craig Eaves continued the good work by adding 37
for the 3rd wicket before the returning Ansell had Abbot caught in
the covers for 9. South were now 118 for 3 in the 24th over, looking
set for a big total. Overton rallied his players and the bowlers and
fielders responded as the next 16 overs cost only 53. Eaves and J
Baughan provided 16 and 13 respectively. Ansell was the pick of the
bowlers with a superb 8-0-12-2. The final total of 171 looked
competitive and would require a good performances by either side to
secure victory. |
South

North openers to 16 from the first 6 overs. In the 7th, D Grainger

spell of 4-4-0-1. The score reached 63 in the 20th over when
successive Eaves left arm swingers bowled Francis Lausen and
Lawrence Stone leaving North reeling at 63-6, Captain Overton
