South v East at
Ipplepen Monday May 30th
|
After a steady start by
South, East got back into the match by taking 3 wickets fairly close
together. Claiming Seamus McKenna was a big wicket for them (not Man
of the Match on this occasion but definitely Man of the Series).
When Jack Saunders and Jack Lewis were together there was never a
dull moment with finely judged runs. With the South already heading
for a large score, when Saunders went this brought the hard hitting
Sam Wakeham to the crease and a few lusty blows blows left the South
with a commanding 189 for 5. |
Grainger-Allen ripped
into the East openers with first class class bowling. South could
see the game going their way with only Rebecca Bertrand (Girl of the
Match) and Extras putting up much resistance. Having said that, East
did try to make a game of it by playing some cavalier shots. The
actual win came off the very last ball with a quick single taken,
followed by overthrows and another attempted single which ended in a
run out. |
A very entertaining
match. |
