South v West at

After winning the flip of
the coin West's captain decided to insert the home side on what can
only be described as an interesting wicket. South got off to a good
start by putting on 19 for the first wicket, then losing 2 wickets
in quick succession before Joe Abbott joined Seamus McKenna for a
stand of 75. McKenna was by then in full flow hitting the ball hard
and finding the gaps. Without his 44 and extras (by far the biggest
contributor) the outcome of the game could have been completely in
West's grasp. Solid wicketkeeping from Amara Carr and a good bowling
performance by Michael Cousens kept West in with a sniff.
168-7 |
Cousens and Reece Davis
got the reply off to a solid start before Davis fell lbw to Jonty
Parsons. Runs still continued to come until David Grainger-Allen
ripped the heart out of West's middle order with a fine display of
accurate bowling, and with George Yates claiming the prize of
Cousins West looked sunk. However, Dominic Scaglioni had other ideas
with hard hitting giving him boundaries. A win was possible
but the target was out of reach when more wickets tumbled. A winning
draw was a fair result with both teams being evenly matched.
