The Crusaders decided to bat first as the dark clouds started to surround Yelverton and become very gloomy. Crusaders were reduced to 31 for three off seven overs, with their top three batsman gone. David Ackford bowled an excellent line, tight with a bit of away swing, and he got the important wickets of Callum Cload and Dan Dixon. Mike Henwood (11) and James Wardle, who finished on 19 not out, put on 29 for the fourth wicket and then Wardle combined with Jordan Bailey (11) and added a further 32 runs for the fifth wicket, moving the score up to 90 for five with three overs to go. Todd Rossouw hit some lusty blows and the Crusaders finished on 106 for five, extras contributing 35. David Ackford finished with 4-2-6-2.

Crusaders knew early wickets were an important factor and the key wicket of David Ackford. Yelverton were 24 for four off four overs, with Ackford out for 15 and they never really looked like getting the runs from then on. After eight overs the score was 33 for five, Dan Dixon 3-16 and Jacob Anderton 2-16. Plymouth Peverell 97 for 7 (M. Rose 44, A. Mallet 3-20, W. Caufield 2-21)Plymouth Mount Wise 43 for 7 (W. Caufield 12, Liam Edmonds 3-10, L. Peacock 2-9)

Plymouth Peverell beat Plymouth Mount Wise by 54 runs

Mount Wise won the toss and asked Peverell to bat on a very dry dusty track that resembled crazy paving. This looked to be a sound decision when W. Farrow bowled the dangerous Stein for 2 runs with a shooter that hit one of the cracks. With Ellis (4) the other opener soon back in the pavilion it was left to D Bryant (12) and Liam Edmonds (16) to steady the boat. Then up stepped the Captain for the evening Mark Rose to play an innings to remember smashing the ball to all corners. He raced to 44 before being bowled in the final over trying to make a maiden fifty which carried Plymouth Peverell to 97 for 7, a respectable total. The pick of the Mount Wise bowlers were Alex Mallet 4-0-20-3 and Will Caulfield 4-1-2-21.

Mount Wise found it difficult to come to terms with the conditions and with leg spinner Liam Edmonds 4-0-10-3 turning the ball square it was always going to be difficult. The figures would have been better had Peverell held catches. In the end the innings closed on 76 for 9 with 33 extras being the main contributor which left Plymouth Peverell winners by 21 runs.
