DAN Pyle lashed a whirlwind 167 to set Shobrooke Park on course for a 56-run win over Barnstaple & Pilton in a high-scoring affair.
Devon U16 rising start Pyle had warmed up the day before with a century for the Devon Dumplings in their win over South Oxfordshire Amateurs on the County Ground.
And he was clearly still in blistering form as his 167 against B&P came from 98 balls faced.
Nick Prell stroked 64 not out, Jon James made 41 and Chris Simpson 30 in a Shobrooke total of 344 for six.
Bowling success was hard to come by for B&P, although James Russell did take three for 56.
Barnstaple, staring relegation in the face, made 288 for nine with Tom Popham cracking 101.
George McEndoo made 59 and Steve Moore 40.
Pick of the bowlers by a whisker with three for 46 was left-armer Prell. Skipper Phil Anning took two for 35.
Victory keeps Shobrooke in mid-table, where they have been for most of the season.
Defeat means Barnstaple can’t get out of the bottom two whatever happens against Stoke Gabriel this Saturday and will be playing C Division cricket next season for the first time since 2006.
