F DIVISION - WEEK FIVE
CULMSTOCK stay top of the F Division despite losing by seven wickets for Cullompton.
With Henry Weeks making 95 not out and Vic Lothian 55, Culmstock posted a useful 262 for six.
Craig Hawkins (58no) and Mark Ashplant (38no) got Cully over the line after David Percy (47) and Malcolm Paiva (56) did the ground work.
Culmstock are five points ahead of third-placed Topsham, who could do nothing to catch them as they were without a game, and three up on Exeter Civil Service who took second place after a nine-wicket win over Shaldon.
Shaldon’s total of 220 for eight was built on knocks of 60 by Seamus McKenna, 54 from David Hansford and 27 by Andrew Epsley.
There were two wickets each for Civil bowers Mike Skidmore, Nick Rowe and Steve Miles.
Jon Reid clattered an unbeaten century and with Vic Murphy (62) and Greg Newcomb e (31no) contributing it was a bit of a stroll for the Civ.
Hemyock were turned over by 173 runs in their game against Yarcombe. The man of the match for Yarcom be was Simon Hovell, who hit 74 in a total of 236 for seven, then took four wickets for 16 runs as the losers were bowled out for 63.
Cheriton Fitzpaine came a cropper when they ran into former Devon off-spinner Paul Harding playing for Kingskerswell.
Harding is in the veteran category these days, but he was still too wily for most of the Cherries batters.
Only Mike Foan (39) and Jeremy Tricks (34) hung around for long as Harding took seven for 19 and David Lear three for 36 to shoot out the Cherries for 120.
Mark Bryant’s 46 helped Kerswell ease to a five-wicket win. Pick of the Cherries bowlers with three for 22 was James Faircloth.
Chelston are off the bottom of the F Division for the first time this season after routing Newton St Cyres by seven wickets.
Mike Parfitt (33) was the only batter to survive long as Phil Hunt (5-22) and skipper Russ Bennett (3-22) bundled out St Cyres for 115.
Wojciech Szymanski (38no) and John Tallamy (35) steered Chelston to victory and four places up the table.
