FIVE women cricketers from Devon have been named in the 15-strong Western Storm squad for the inaugural Kia Super League.
Each of the Kia Super League teams has named a playing squad of 15, which comprises three or four England women’s players, three overseas players, two or three England Women’s Academy players, and six or seven players who have been selected through a county talent identification process.
Following the unveiling of where the England women’s players would be based and which overseas players have been signed, the announcement reveals where the very best young talent from the England Women’s Academy will be on show this summer.
The five from Devon in the Storm squad are Amara Carr, Jodie Dibble, Rosalie Fairbairn, Sophe Mackenzie and Cait O’Keefe.
Heather Knight – the team captain and England vice-captain – completes the Devon contingent in the side.
Although Knight plays for Berkshire now, she learned her cricket with Plymstock and Devon Women before graduating to the England set-up.
Aylish Cranstone, who also plays for Devon, is in the Surrey Stars team.
Cranstone is a student at the University of Exeter and has been playing for Devon while studying there.
