Food Hygiene

Food Hygiene

From time to time the League receives inquiries from clubs with regard to the preparation and serving of refreshments at cricket clubs. Because cricket clubs go about the preparation and serving of refreshments in different ways it is impossible to give a ‘one size fits all’ answer.

Much will be determined by whether the club actually prepares food on the premises or whether food is brought to the premises in a pre-prepared form.   The Food Standards Agency (FSA) provides some guidance for voluntary organisations but, in general, this is for those clubs or organisations that are involved in food preparation on an occasional basis. Their guidance can be found at http://food.gov.uk/business-industry/caterers/food-hygiene/charity-community-groups/#.U4iPGI8U9jo

For specific advice on this subject clubs are advised to contact the Environmental Health Department of the Local Authority in which the club is situated.
