SA Tour 2016 2-Day Match U15s v Nelspruit School @ Skukuza CC
Day 1

This years tour party first experience of two day cricket. Devon won the toss and chose to bat on a baking hot day at Skukuza CC. Devon managed 216 all out in 62.5 overs, the leading Devon batters from the DeVon innings were Ben Sapiecha (72) who showed some good application at the crease, other significant contributions were made by Barnstaple and Pilton youngster Jack Moore (45) and Torquays Sam Carpenter (20).

Nelspruit appeared to forget which format of the game they were playing after losing an early wicket to the bowling of Kersley Sutton a brutal onslaught gathered momentum. Flaying all of the Devon bowlers around the ground, the schools' pairing of Parnel (103) and Van Zyl (89) showed some power hitting skills which are not often seen at U15 level. Devon however managed to wrestle some control back in the game. Devons' Elliott Adams (7-1-11-1) and Sam Carpenter (5-1-22-0) both bowling with good variations, which created pressure onto the Nelspruit Team.

Nelspruit finished the day 33 ahead with 5 wickets remaining, the game nicely posed for day two.

Day 2

Devon U15s felt the intense heat of the Kruger on the second day of their first two day game on tour v Nelspruit High School U15s.  Going into day two Devon found themselves trailing the hosts by 36 runs with 21 overs of the Nelspruit innings remaining.

A rather meek second innings batting performance meant this years touring party falling to a 10 wicket defeat to the school team.

Devon's day however started well with Sam Carpenter (3-56) and James Degg (2-29) building pressure and taking wickets at regular intervals. Nelspruit were bowled out for 330 in their first innings with 1.1 overs remaining of the maximum first innings allotted 65. Meaning that Nelspruit were 114 runs ahead on completion of first innings.

As the temperature soared the Devon batters struggled to find a way to score against the slow spin of the Nelspruit attack. The only two significant scores of the Devon innings were Abraham Kopparambil (30) and Max Mejzner (25), Devon being dismissed for 151 in 56.2overs.

Nelspruit knocked off the required 37 runs in just 6.2 overs to seal a convincing win against the Devon side.
