Police investigate Bovey Tracey break-in

vandals broke into Bovey Tracey Cricket Club’s pavilion, damaging seating and an electrical socket.

Police are now appealing for information about the break-in which happened in the run up to Christmas.

Reasons for the damage are unknown and although the value is described as ‘minimal’, officers investigating the incident say it is the principle of an attack on sports facilities.

It is not clear how the intruders got inside the building, but they may have gained access through a window.

The incident is being treated as criminal damage and police are keen to hear from anyone who may have information or may have seen anything suspicious in the area.

Cricket club officials are now understood to be taking measures to improve security.

A police spokesman said: ‘There has been no trouble at the club like this for a long time so we were quite surprised it has happened.

‘While the value of the damage may not be high, it is the principle of someone causing damage to property.

‘If anyone saw or heard anything, please let us know.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or emailing 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk and quoting crime reference CR/087887/15.
