CORNWOOD hope to put into practice against Exeter some hard learned lessons of recent weeks. The Corns have lost back-to-back games against Bovey Tracey and Sidmouth, currently the top two in the table.
Exeter have only won once in three starts and Cornwood skipper Craig Harris is looking forward to competing in a more level playing field.
“After two weeks against two top teams we are now heading in to a short period of games in which we need to show that we have learnt from our recent matches and that we can perform as a unit and get results,” said Harris.
“Our bowling and batting has shown some real promise in each game so far and whilst we continue to strive for the consistency and approach of teams like Sidmouth and Bovey, we know that in our squad we have enough strength to win games.
“Exeter will be a tough opposition but at home and four weeks in to the season we will be going for the win.”
Team news is that Jason Hall is spending another week on the sidelines recovering from his finger dislocation,
Andy Bees and Elliott Staddon are back in for Duncan Boase and Ewan Grewal.
Exeter are looking to build on last Saturday’s win over North Devon, which got them up and running after two defeats.
“We had a great result last week which hopefully has given us a platform to build on,” said skipper Jon Tipper.
“What we must do now is to continue the hard work and maintain the standards set last week.
“We are looking forward to playing Cornwood as they are a team we are used to seeing and we have had a good record against them over the past couple of years.
“However, we are not underestimating them as they have settled well into the Premier Division, having picked up an early win.
“We are fully aware they have some very good players and once again they have obtained an excellent overseas pro, so we have to be at 100per cent to give ourselves the best chance of another win.
Thomas Viljoen is out, as is Matt Hicks. Rob Holman comes in and Ben Green (16) – an all rounder who bowls with good pace – makes his debut.
