PLYMSTOCK have turned to former captain Dave Orchard to get the off the hook in the battle to dodge the drop in the A Division.
Plymstock, away to Heathcoat tomorrow, have been led by Seb Jordan until now.
But with Plymstock one off the bottom of the table and 20 points from safety, the gallant Jordan has stepped aside in favour of his predecessor.
Orchard knows he's taking on a big task, with Plymstock at the risky end of the table.
But he thinks there's still time for the team to secure their A Division status.
“We know we are in trouble with only ourselves to blame and now it's up to all of us to step up and start playing the cricket we know we can and build some momentum.”
This week there's a few changes to the side as well.
Jordan takes a rest, Robotham is unavailable due to work commitments and Josh Hocken is unavailable.
In their places are old timer batterRob Baker, batter Callum Cload who is available now Plymouth College games and exams have finished, and Rory Coltham, who is back from university.
Heathcoat are firmly focussed on going up so skipper Sam Smith won’t be taking it easy on Plymstock.
“There’s lots of pressure on the top five teams and any slip up at this stage could be vital at the end of the season,” said Smith.
Joe Smith and Jack Menheneott are unavailable. Toby Lochead and Jamie Drew come in.
Brixham, building momentum after wins over Sandford and Hatherleigh, make the short trip to Barton.
Barton are the form side of the division at the moment with a fifth straight win in their sights.
Brixham captain Richard Ward respects Barton but does not fear them.
“It is an important game for us and with a full-strength side we should compete well,” said Ward.
Whisper it quietly around Cricketfield Road, but Barton are creeping ever closer to the top of the table and a promotion push isn’t out of the question.
Their winning run has seen Barton climb to fourth, where they are only eight points behind second-placed Sandford.
Skipper Adam Parker is a little coy on the subject of promotion, but clearly has ambitions in that direction.
“Another positive would be great and keep us within the top bunch of clubs,” said Parker.
“It's very tight up there so every point is crucial at this stage.”
“We will need to be at the top of our game to beat Brixham this week, We fought hard for the win over Plymstock last week and need to show that spirit again.”
Damon Calland comes back in after two weeks out due to injury
Abbotskerswell will be aiming to avoid a third straight defeat, although skipper Richard Acton accepts that won’t be easy away to second-placed Sandford.
“Sandford are a top side but we proved we have the ability to beat the top sides when we defeated Heathcoat a few weeks back,” said Acton.
“A lot of our batsman need to find some form again and our bowling and fielding standards can definitely improve.
“A win at this stage of the season would be fantastic for us.”
Charlie Hill and Hugo Whitlock are away this week so Dave Palmer and Greg French come back in.
Sandford, who beat Plympton to get a defeat at Brixham out of their system, are unchanged.
“No changes from last week after a good team performance,” said skipper Simon Ashplant.
“Looking to maintain momentum with another well-rounded performance this weekend.”
PLYMPTON skipper Jez Williams returns to the side after two weeks holidaying in Cornwall with a job to do after two defeats.
Since Williams went away Plympton have dropped from second to fifth in the table and have some catching up to do at Hatherleigh tomorrow.
Said Williams: “Results have been disappointing but we need to put them behind us start again and concentrate on Hatherleigh.
“It won't be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination as they really pushed us at our place earlier in the season.
“If it wasn't for some batting heroics by Wes Hartslief we would have struggled to chase their total.
“However the win against Hatherleigh last time kick started our season and we went on to win six on the bounce. We need to do that again!
Dave Wrench, Lewis Gregory, Matt Gregory and Pavi Mawalage are all unavailable.
In come Williams, Craig Donohue, Shaun Smith and Dave Walter.
BRAUNTON head for Paignton looking to get back to winning ways after losing to Heathcoat.
New signing Matt Smith, who impressed on his debut, is injured and unlikely to play.
Batter Lawrence May returns having been away at college for most of the season so far.
Paignton bring in Connor Ashworth as an extra spinner.
“We are a fully fit side that has trained well this week and is looking forward to the game,” said skipper Connor Bryan.
