Wiltshire on top at tea

TREVOR Anning took three wickets in a hurry before Wiltshire regained their composure on a sweaty afternoon at Exmouth.

Wiltshire,134 for one at lunch, lost Joe Breet, Ashur Morrison and Neil Clark in the space of 10 balls from Anning.

Breet had moved on from 80 not out at lunch to 93 and had a century in his sights when he went back to Anning and was given out lbw.

Morrison played a handful of  safety shots then tried to spank Anning through the off-side and was spectacularly caught at cover by a tumbling David Lye.

Clark went three balls into Anning’s next over, again lbw.

Wiltshire had slipped to 161 for four in six and a half overs after lunch and their priority had to eb regrouping.

They spent the next 33 overs doing exactly that, denying Devon another wicket in the session.

Opener Toby Davies reached his century shortly before tea and was unbeaten on 104 at the break.

Henry Langford was not out on 54 in a total of 261 for four from 74 overs.

Devon were forced to make one enforced change before the game as seamer Mark Orchard dropped out with a knee injury sustained the day before.

Matt Kidd was brought in at the 11th hour, but only bowled four overs at a cost of 25 runs before he was relieved.
