IVYBRIDGE are within six points of second place in the B Division after beating Plymstock by three wickets in a low-scoring derby clash.
Plymstock were all out for 83 in the 26th of their 45 overs – Matt Blakemore (26) and Dean Fulco (16) the only batsmen in double figures.
The damage was done up front by Jamie Bullock (3-13) and Josh Zimmerman (3-33), then continued by Pete Abraham (2-19), Jeewan DeSilva (1-9) and Harry Soloman (1-3).
Batting didn’t seem much easier when Ivybridge batted, although they had the benefit opf knowing how many they needed.
Fulco (2-47), Dave Orchard (2-14) and Stephen Rowe (3-15) had Ivybridge struggling at 68 for seven in reply.
Skipper Gareth Andrews (16no) saw Ivybridge over the hump.
Andrews said Ivybridge bowled better than they batted.
“Another very good bowling and fielding display and we held some good catches,” said Andrews.
“Both teams didn't bat that well on a pitch that was pretty good!”
Opposite number James Nichols agreed about the batting, but wasn’t convinced about the pitch.
“Ivybridge bowled Good areas on a poor deck and we played some rubbish cricket.
“Maybe two of our batters can say they were got out, The rest, including myself, need to go back in the nets and work hard to turn it around next weekend.
“Our bowlers were really good and we showed fight, but the simple truth is our batting needs to find form because that just wasn't good enough.”
