LEWDOWN skipper Harry Geering blamed availability probems for his side’s 159-run hammering by Brixham.
Brixham amassed 325 for six before their overs ran out – former Devon batsman Andy Pugh taking the Lewdown attack for 139.
Tim Robinson opened with 34, Devon’s Mark Orchard had 34 and former Leicestershire 2nd XI batter Andy Lewin made 33.
Lewdown were all out for 166 in reply – Tom Pearce making a top score of 67. Tom Pengelly (34) and Simon Metheral (22no) chipped in.
Pick of the bowlers with four for 51 was South African Jordan Gregory. Orchard had three more and Lee Upham a couple.
Said Geering: “We had 15 players who said they could not play – which makes life very difficult.
“Nearly all of them are back this week, so we will want to get back on track in the derby game with Hatherleigh.”
Brixham skipper Andy Pugh said he hoped the win might be a sprinboard for a promotion push in the second part of the season.
“It was the first time all season that we fired in all areas,” said Pugh.
“We have got two players to come in next week back from university and that will only make us stronger.
“It looks quite promising for us – I will let you know with three games to go how promising!”
