TORQUAY will hand Kazi Szymanski his first team debut on Saturday when they welcome Plymouth to the Recreation Ground in the Premier Division of the Devon League.
All-rounder Szymanski, a rising star of the Devon under-16s side, joined Torquay during the close season from near neighbours Chelston.
School commitments – he is studying in Taunton – have prevented 15 year old Szymanski playing until now.
With term time over Torquay skipper Justin Yau is eager to unleash Szymanski on the Premier Division and see what he can do.
"We get to half way in a good position and we need to kick on and keep playing like we have done in the first half of the season."
"He is young but fearless and good enough to perform at this level," said Yau.
"It will be a magnificent learning experience for him and we will guide him well."
Szymanski (pictured) was one of a clutch of young players brought in during the winter by Yau, with impressive results.
Torquay have been top or second for most of the season and newcomers like Ryan Stevenson and Matt Petherbridge have been part of the reason.
"Peths and Ryan have been outstanding up until now," said Yau." Both have taken 15 wickets and it would be great if they could double up and get to 30 by the end of the season."
Torquay go into the game fresh from handing out a 10-wicket hiding to Plympton, who were bowled out for a measly 51.
