Exeter can't be underrated says Torquay skipper Yau

EXETER’S win over Exmouth lifted them out of the bottom two and ahead of Plymouth.

The city side renew rivalries with old adversaries Torquay on the County Ground where more of the same is the order from skipper Miles Lenygon.

“Having set the standard against Exmouth, now we have to maintain it,” said Lenygon.

Exeter are stronger this week as opening bowler Ollie Sale and Somerset keeper-batter Alex Barrow are available. Both played for Somerset 2nd XI midweek with County Ground colleague Tom Lammonby.

Andy Mead and Alec Bosomworth are the players to drop out.

Missing from the side is the holidaying Tom Richardson, whose brother Jack opens the batting for Torquay.

Torquay went top by beating Plymouth last time out and skipper Justin Yau is in no rush to change a winning line up.

With North Devon (2nd) playing Exmouth (5th) and Sidmouth up against Bovey in a third-against-fourth clash, it is big weekend at the top.

“This is a massive weekend for fixtures as the other top five teams meet each other so we will try and keep the pressure on by picking up as many points as we can,” said Yau.

“We are thoroughly enjoying playing our positive brand of cricket and we will do our best to keep going.”

Yau said it would be an error to underrate Exeter despite their bottom-three place.

“Exeter are an excellent side and their league position doesn't do them justice,” he said.

“They have quality throughout their line up and we will have to be at our best to beat them.

“We are going great guns and will keep going one game at a time. “
