Palmer looking for Sandford reaction

SANDFORD welcome lowly Lewdown to Creedy Park looking to get back to business after a seven-wicket defeat by Hatherleigh.

Prince Masvuare and Josh Cann both made half-centuries as Sandford made 208 for nine in 50 overs.

Danny Forrester with 76 not out and Simon Gillespie (81) made light work of the chase.

“It was a fairly disappointing result after our last couple of performances,” said Sandford skipper Jamie Palmer.

“Hatherleigh out performed us in all departments on the day.

“They showed good discipline with the ball and good intent with the bat.

“I thought Josh Cann batted superbly, showing good maturity in scoring a fine 50,” said skipper Palmer.

“We weren't terrible but just need that extra edge and desire. I'm looking for a lot more against Lewdown.”

Gary Abdoll replaces Brian Leach in an otherwise unchanged side.

Lewdown need to turn near misses into wins, according to captain Harry Geering, if they are going to get away from the danger end.

“We have won one of our last three when we have had very good chances to have won all of them,” said Geering

“I will be looking for 100 per cent for the full game this week.”

Billy and Arnie Searle are missing. Johan Wessels is injured and Matt Witcher is away and with the second team playing third in the table Abbotskerswell.

Replacements are still pending as the 2nd XI are looking for promotion to the A Division.
