Chudleigh need to produce 'A Game' says skipper Foreman

CHUDLEIGH captain Ed Foreman hopes his side take their ‘A Game’ into the derby clash with leaders Ipplepen.

When they are good they are very good – ask Braunton after the hammering handed out last Saturday – and when they are bad they are rotten.

Foreman knows if Chudleigh were more consistent they could be top themselves – not 11 points behind.

“Our form has been indifferent recently.” said Foreman.

“We were brilliant last week but very poor the week before.

“We are still in the top half of the table, which is our goal for the year so I'm happy, but I would like more consistency.”

Mark Solway and Mark Heather are on holiday so Jack Beer and Mike Trout come in.

Trout – closer to 70 than 60 next birthday – must be a contender for oldest player of the season, not that Foreman is concerned.

“Both have done well in the 2nd XI recently so I'm glad to be getting replacements on form.

“We are expecting a tough challenge from a good side.”

For Ipplepen the game is a chance to break away from the log-jam at the top of the table – and get one back for a defeat earlier in the season.

“We are looking to perform better against Chudleigh this time around in an effort to put some daylight between us and third place,” said skipper Keith Wakeham.

Sam deFriend comes in for the holidaying Jack Lewis. All-rounder Joe Abbott replaces Johnny Norman.

SHOBROOK Park need a win against Abbotskerswell on Saturday to prevent the promotion bandwagon rolling on without them.

The former leaders have only won once in the last four outings and dropped down the table to fourth following a 59-run defeat by Plymstock last Saturday.

“We need a win this week,” said worried skipper Chris Simpson.

“Our bowling has been a bit off the last few games, if that improves it will help a lot.”

Jon James is back in at the top of the order. Phil Anning drops out and with, James Bevan away Andrew Steer comes in.

THORVERTON’S upturn in form – four wins in five starts – will be tested when they go to second-placed Plymstock.

Thors beat Ivybridge by 38 runs last Saturday in a low-scoring affair.

Opening batsman George Greed is harvesting and his place goes to youngster Jamie Khan.

Will Denford has a broken thumb and is replaced by vice-captain David Baldock, whose own catalogue of recent injuries is too extensive to report!

AXMINSTER captain Paul Miller can see an opportunity to push away from the B Division drop zone once and for all.

Bottom side Braunton visit Cloakham tomorrow, followed by Chudleigh in eight days time.

“The next two games are massive for us both at home so we will be hoping to build on the last two wins and keep playing our positive cricket,” said Miller.

“Braunton may be bottom, but they have some good cricketers in their ranks so we will not be taking them lightly.

“We know it only takes a couple of wins and you are back up there or if you lose a couple your right back in it.”

Alex Wraight is going to a wedding but Sam Farrow comes back in.

SOUTH Devon dropped into the bottom two after losing at Ipplepen and need to end a run of four defeats at the expense of visiting Ivybridge.
